Morning & Evening Daily Devotional Reading– May 28

by Charles H. Spurgeon, Revised and Edited by William C. Neff

“Whom God justified he also glorified.”

—Romans 8:30

Here is a precious truth for you, dear believer in Christ. You may be in poverty, suffering, or obscurity, but remember your calling by God and the consequences that flow from it. As surely as you are God’s child today, so surely will all your trials soon be at an end, and you will be rich in glory. Soon your weary head will wear the crown of glory, and that callused hand of labor will grasp the palm-branch of victory. Do not cry about your troubles, but rejoice that you will soon be where there is no sorrow, crying, or pain.

The chariots of fire are at your door, and it will only take them a moment to take you to your glory. The everlasting song is almost on your lips. The doors of heaven stand open to receive you. Don’t think that you can possibly fail to enter your rest. If He has called you, nothing can divide you from His love. Distress can not sever the bond; the fire of persecution can not burn the ropes; the hammer of hell can not break the chain; you are secure. The voice that first called you will call you again from the darkness of this earth to the splendors of heaven.

Rest assured that the heart of the One who clothed you in His righteousness continues to beat with infinite love towards you. You will soon be glorified. You are only waiting here to be prepared for your inheritance. The wings of angels shall blow you far away to the Great mountain of peace where you will rest in the glory of God forever. [M&E]
